Introduction

Stourton with Gasper, normally referred to simply as Stourton, is a rural parish in Wiltshire. It is on the borders of both Dorset and Somerset; in fact used to be in Somerset. The whole parish was part of the Stourhead Estate. The National Trust own part of the estate, including the Palladian mansion and the world famous landscape gardens. Stourhead is appreciated by hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. However Stourton is not a museum, but a real community where we live and work.
